The Fort Worth Air Show

We took a Sunday off and went to the Fort Worth Alliance Air Show! There were military exibitions and all kinds of really cool planes! Mason and John were in heaven and Whit and I were along for the ride. I have to admit, I thought it was really cool! It was fun to watch Mason get so excited and dream about being a pilot. This is the first time that he has said he wants to do anything other than work with his daddy! Whitley found her calling too! She wants to be a conductor on a train so that she can open the door and let people on and off! Her idea not mine! Anyway, enjoy the pics! We had a really good time and if the Blue Angels fly near you, make every effort to go see them it is well worth it!

Ukraine thoughts

I was thinking about the Ukraine today and remembered all my sweet friends. These are a few of the pics from my last trip! Although this trip was signifigantly shorter than the first, I think the impact on my heart was even bigger. I knew what to expect this time, and that allowed my heart to see and feel even more. The children's faces were familar and still had the same look of wonder and pain. It is amazing to me how people so far removed from my life could so profoundly open my eyes to the world. I had heard the term biblical worldview so many times in my young ministry life, but now not only do I know the term first hand, it also has a face (actually many faces). Thank you to all of my Ukrainian friends your lives have forever changed mine!

Hopefully we will be able to return next summer with a team of families from Grace.

Cubbies for Mason

As a children's minister, I have seen hundreds of kids go through our program, but I have never really realized how amazing it is. Mason is in his second year of Cubbies, in this program kids three and four years old memorize scripture!
(I am 31 and I have a hard time memorizing scripture. )
Every week Mason is so excited to put on his vest and go to Cubbies to learn about Jesus and say his verse. He doesn't forget either! We review the previous weeks verses and he usually says them without a hitch.
God is so amazing to give kids the ability to memorize things so young. I pray for Mason and his friends that this is the beginning of a life long habit! Yea for Cubbies!

Whitley the Teacher

For the past few nights, Whitley has set up classes in my bedroom. We usually all hang out in the living room after dinner, but for the last couple of nights Whit has been disappearing.
She goes and gets her stuffed animals and dolls and puts them in our room and reads and sings to them.
It is so cute! I sat, hidden, outside my room and listened to my little teacher! How different girls are than boys!!!! From potty training to teaching, what will the child do next?

Playhouse Disney Live!

We spent one Saturday morning, not to long ago, with our kids watching a live Disney show! I am always amazed at Disney, they can take a cartoon and make it come to life. Instantly my whole family was captivated by the characters and music of our familar cartoon friends. Even John had fun, but I am sure that he won't admit it. It was the first time that we have had a family discussion, where everyone was so excited and just couldn't wait to say their favorite thing. Most of the time Whitley and I are the major players in the conversation. It was fun to get away and be a family all by ourselves!

When did they grow up?

I am sure that every parent out there comes to a point where they want to throw on the brakes because their kids are growing up too fast. Well I came to that point yesterday! My babies are big kids now and I can't help but think "when did they get this big?".
We have gone from John and I fighting over who's turn it is to get out of bed at 3AM to no more diapers in our house!
I look at my own children and remember the kids God has given me to shepard at Grace and the same thought comes to mind. "When did these kids grow up?" I have a tendency to slam things into high gear and get "everything" in before they really are grown, but God is so patient to remind me yet again, I just get to help. He is the One that calls these children to Himself. What a God I serve, He has given us a great gift in our children and all that He asks is that we are faithful to teach them His Word.
I pray that I take every opportunity to pour into the lives of children, God's love and grace!

Hi! I'm the Children's Ministry Director at Grace Bible Church in Nacogdoches. I have a great husband and two adorable children. I love to eat, sleep, read, go to concerts with my interns, watch high school musical and other cheezy chick flicks. Anjuli and Hannah, what am I going to do without you?
